The Best Day of the Week

Bloggers for today: Asael and Doustyn

The second-to-last day of our trip we woke up full of energy because we had a new adventure ahead.

Our first stop was a small artisanal glass workshop called Copavic where they showed us a bit about the glassmaking process. They use old recycled bottles and turn them into beautiful vases, glasses and figurines, which was fascinating.

Before we entered the store, Pastor Emerson told us that this place reminds him that in the hands of God we are all transformed into new people. Each piece in the workshop is unique like us, and our lives can become works of art too, no matter how broken we feel.

It was so much fun and interesting to learn and meet new people every day.

Our second stop was to get ready to go to the Fuentes Georginas hot springs. We passed through an area that grows so many vegetables because of the rich volcanic soil. Everything was so green!

Fields of carrots, beets, cabbage, onions, and broccoli

Once we arrived at Fuentes Georginas, we first climbed a mountain which was so much fun.

When we came down, we went swimming in the hot springs which felt good on our tired legs.

Afterward, we had hot chocolate and started the trip back to where we were staying, with a stop in downtown Xela for pizza and to see the Christmas decorations in the Central Park.

Every day was beautiful, but this one was very special and fun.

We are deeply grateful to God for this opportunity and to the people who made this trip possible. We enjoyed it immensely.

  • Thanks for sharing this week of activities, Carrie. It appears that there were many beautiful moments and that you have had a wonderful exploration – especially for those young adults who got to experience it. And it was good for us “armchair” travelers as well!
    Nicely done!
