Two New Churches Join the Partnership!

We are delighted to report that two churches in New Castle Presbytery have jumped on board and joined the Guatemala Partnership!

IMG_1229 (2)First, the mission committee of New Castle Presbyterian Church (located in Old New Castle, Delaware) is sponsoring their own revolving fund group. On May 5th, committee members presented a check to two members of the Guatemala Partnership team. These funds will support 12 women in a new revolving fund group as they launch their self-sustaining projects planting potatoes and raising small livestock. New Castle Church is also establishing a prayer partnership with these women, and plans to send one or two representatives to travel to Guatemala next January to visit this group in person and see their projects in action! Update: Damaged Manufacturing Workshop Back in Operation

In early March, two enormous trees fell on the workshop of our Guatemalan partners AJPU, causing significant damage. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but the entire roof and portions of the external walls were destroyed. To witness the damage up-close, view this five-minute video taken just hours after the tree fell. Please be sure your Subtitles/Closed Captioning is turned ON in order to read the translation in English.

With the resilience and resourcefulness that is so typically Guatemala, AJPU had a crew working onsite within 24 hours. We are pleased to report that they are now back up and running at full capacity! Read more

Downed Trees Damage Manufacturing Workshop in Guatemala

We recently received some news from our partners in Guatemala (AJPU) who produce the water filters, VIP latrines and fuel-efficient stoves for us.  On the morning of Ash Wednesday at 11:45 am, strong tornado-like winds downed two enormous fir trees onto their workshop.  Four men were working inside, fulfilling a recent order placed by the Association of Mam Christian Women for Development using funds provided by New Castle Presbytery.  By the grace of God, the men were not injured, but very shaken.
